Jennifer and Mitchell got cuffed to either side of the pole suspending the platform. The platform immediately began spinning as the helicopter gained altitude. They retrieved the keys quickly but struggle to figure out which keys freed which cuffs. Jennifer hit the water first. Mitchell took another 15 seconds to free himself! Their final time was 1:01.9. The other teams were confident they could do better. Chip & Kelley, with matching Sanskrit tattoos, were up next. The tattoos translated to "Family Strength" - and they would need it! While they spun around and around beneath the helicopter, Chip & Kelley applied their strategy and tried to finish in their goal of 50 seconds of less. They achieved that goal when Chip hit the water in 47.9 seconds! They had automatically advanced to day two. Sisters/Roommates/Best Friends Corinne & Mercedes, also from Las Vegas, were up next. The petite blondes didn't inspire confidence in their competitors, but hit the water with a final time of 1:06. Jennifer and Mitch celebrated the fact that they were no longer in danger of being eliminated. David & Justin, who had both trained as triathletes, were raring to nail the best time of the day. Forty-three seconds later, they had done it. Corinne & Mercedes were out!
The six remaining players arrived on day two when the web of fear escalated. The siblings would each have their heads trapped in a web-laden Plexiglas box, filled with tarantulas and other spiders! While the lanky spiders crawled across their eyes, ears, hair and other facial areas, one sibling would transfer a key to the other using only his or her mouth. The sibling who received the key (also via his or her mouth) would then drop it through a slot into his or her hands and use to open the lock on the box. Luckily, it was not an elimination stunt. Instead, the winners would receive an all-inclusive cruise for 4 to the Bahamas. Since David & Justin got the best time on day one, they got to choose the order. They called out Chip & Kelley to go first. Meanwhile, Jennifer was having a complete freakout because she is terrified of spiders. Which, by the way, is the whole point of Fear Factor! Chip & Kelley got into position and Chip tried to get the first key with his mouth. He had to blow on a few spiders to get them off the actual key before he could grab it. Then he slowly transferred it over to Kelly who used it to undo the first lock. During the second transfer, Chip had a spider on his lip the entire time! They finished, but didn't celebrate because their heads were still encased in the web of fear! Their final time was 2:14.4.
Afterwards, Kelley said it was horrible and Chip said they kept biting him. Jennifer wiped her tears away and said she was going to just "get in the zone." David & Justin, meanwhile, were using the opportunity to taunt Jennifer even more. Mitchell put his head in first and tried to talk Jennifer through the process. Jennifer was shaking as she slowly started to poke her head up into the spider box. At the first hint of spider - there was a tarantula on the top of her head immediately - she freaked out and ducked down out of harm's way. Mitchell came down out of his box and told her they didn't have to do it if she didn't want to. She had to do it, she told him. She had to face that fear. Now David & Justin began to cheer her on. Finally, she poked her head through the cloth barrier. Her entire body was shaking as she took the first key from Mitchell. Focusing on undoing the lock helped keep her mind off the giant spider crawling across her face - but not much. As soon as time was called, Jennifer slammed down out of the box, wilding slapping at her hair. "I'm freaking out!" she said. Kelley hung onto her as Jennifer did some deep breathing to calm down. Even Mitchell had a little freakout when he realized he still had a spider down his shirt! Joe helped fling the critter off. Neither Jennifer nor Mitchell seemed too concerned about their final time, even though they had beat Chip & Kelley with a time of 1:42.3. Then Joe told Jennifer he was very impressed that she could go through with the stunt despite her fears. David & Justin were up next and seemed to blaze through the stunt as if having spiders on their heads were an everyday occurrence. Final time: 1:00.3. They were Bahamas bound! And everyone was bound for the final stunt.
Needless to say, the brothers (David & Justin) were the main competition for the other two teams; however, Mitchell & Jennifer felt the previous spider stunt had only strengthened their bond and their will to win. For the final stunt, each team would be strapped to a platform by their ankles. As the platform submerged in water, they'd have to release 13 weighted discs from the platform and pull a release handle. The siblings that did it the fastest would reign as sibling champs supreme. Jennifer & Mitchell were up first. When time started, the platform was just on the surface of the water, so the trick was to release as many weights as possible before having to hold your breath. Once submerged, Mitchell released all of his weights before coming up for air, but Jennifer kept having to resurface. Still, their final time of 36.6 seconds was impressive. Chip (ironically wearing a Bahamas t-shirt) & Kelley were next. Chip & Kelley didn't take one break for air and managed to use two hands to work twice as fast, even while submerged. Their final time of 34.5 seconds sent Jennifer & Mitchell home. Could the brothers, David & Justin, pull a hat trick - winning three stunts in a row and claiming the cash?
They got to work quickly, but as the platform submerged it was hard for them to remain down by the weights. Their buoyancy took over, pulling them toward the surface. Then, the unthinkable happened. One of the brothers tried to come up for air. His ankle leash got tangled up and he was just short of the water's surface. He panicked - kicking and flailing as safety divers freed him. Because the safety divers had to jump into action, David & Justin were eliminated - and Chip & Kelley were Sibling Fear Factor Champs!
