Fear Factor Episode 325
Original airdate: May 5, 2003
This was part two of the Fear Factor Grand Championship.
The twelve remaining Fear Factor champs gathered for this special two-hour semi-final competition. The winners from this group would compete against
winners from the previous semi-finals group (#326). Not only was $100,000 of prize money up for grabs, but something else was at stake. Joe
arrived to the first stunt location in a sporty red 2004 Mazda RX-8. Players were thrilled to learn that the two winners of this semi-final
would each receive the new sports car - before it hits showroom floors! First, as with the other competitions they had all won, they'd have
to complete three extreme stunts.
For their first stunt, players would hang in pairs from a helicopter as it raced across a lake. They would then drop into the water and swim
toward a series of 15 buoys. There was one yellow flag and one orange flag hidden under the buoys. Once a player retrieved a flag he or she
would swim towards the color-coordinated floating platform anchored nearby. Whoever could attach a flag to the correct buoy first would win the
heat and advance to day two. The pairings were determined by weight so as not to tip the helicopter.
Up first were Olivia and Denise. Denise had previously competed with her husband in the special couples episode, but was psyched to be going solo
this time around. During Olivia's original competition, she had to dangle from a helicopter and jump into water, so she was fairly confident about
this challenge. Soon the ladies were hoisted into the air and dangling as the water sped by beneath them. Once the girls were in water, the
helicopter hovered overhead creating choppy waves. With the buoys being whipped around in the water, finding the flags - and staying afloat -
was that much more difficult. Both Olivia and Denise were physically fit, but treading water started to take its toll. Finally, Denise located
the yellow flag and started swimming towards the platform. Denise had planted the flag and won before Olivia even located the orange flag. Afterwards,
Denise told the remaining players that the initial impact into the water was so cold and jarring that she had a tough time getting her cold
hands to pull up the chains beneath each buoy.
Erin and Thai were next. Erin seemed to have an instant advantage when Thai admitted that he couldn't swim! Erin had previously competed on the
all-female show, so she was excited to whoop a man in competition. Thai's strategy was to hold the flag in his mouth in order to swim faster;
despite the fact that he had just said he couldn't swim. Both players swayed back and forth considerably before plunging into the frigid lake.
Once in the water, Erin moved quickly and found the yellow flag within seconds. Thai scrambled to find the remaining orange flag - then promptly
dropped it as he tried to carry it his mouth. Erin - an avid smoker and non-exerciser - struggled to get to the platform while Thai signaled for
help from the nearby safety team. Erin finally hooked her flag, securing her spot on day two.
Randy and Waco were next. Once they were in the water, the search for flags took a bit longer than for Erin and Thai. They both simultaneously
found their flags and the swim-off began! Randy, a cowboy, tried to keep up with athletic Waco. Waco reached the platform while Randy struggled
to stay in the game. Once Waco attached the flag, Randy was out - but he kept swimming and completed the task on principle. Chad and Joe, both
avid swimmers, were competing next and hoped for a similar swim-off. Waco was rooting for Joe since they were both in the marines. Joe released way
ahead of Chad, but it was Chad who found a flag first. As he raced towards the orange platform, Joe decided it was over and stopped his search for the
yellow flag. Cherie, who had freaked out during her previous scorpion stunt, had a unique strategy for beating Nicole. She was going to envision one of
her children in danger to motivate her to swim faster and do better at flag retrieval. The tactic worked as Cherie found a flag first and swam
quickly to the platform. Cherie had planted her flag before Nicole even found the other one beneath the remaining buoys.
With the sun now behind clouds dropping the air temperature considerably, Derrick and Todd suited up. Derrick - some of you may remember - had
wanted to use his previous FF winnings for butt implants. Joe, always the helpful host, produced a fake, plastic butt (like people wear on Halloween)
and had Derrick try it on for additional motivation. However, the bootie didn't boost Derrick's flag finding skills as Todd found the flag and reached
the platform first. The playing field had been cut in half.
Curiously, Joe divided up the men and the women at the end of the day - promising special second stunts for each. The next day, when the guys arrived
in front of a long banquet table, Chad figured out the task at hand. The table was drilled with thirteen holes - each containing a previous Fear Factor
delicacy. Each guy would have to stick their hands in four holes and determine what they were touching. If they guessed correctly they moved on to
the next hole. However, an incorrect guess meant they'd have to eat what they couldn't identify. The two players who finished the final eating
challenge the fastest would advance. Lucky guesser Chad was up first. Whichever items Chad picked would be eliminated for the next player, so the final player
had a bit of an advantage (depending on what was left). Chad's first pick contained the balut. Amazingly, he guess "half-developed duck embryo," which
was correct! He also correctly identified his next choice as ostrich egg. All he needed was two more correct answers to avoid any kind of eating.
He said the next item felt like "the outside of a soccer ball" and guess cod sperm; however it was cow snout! One of the most difficult things to
eat, cow snout is very tough - and Chad would have to eat it! But first, he had one more hole to go. He misidentified the maggoty cheese, so that
was added to his dinner platter.
Todd was next and had a squishy first item. Unbelievably, he managed to identify the 100-year-old eggnog. Next, Todd's hand plunged into more goopy
goo. This time, Todd guessed blended liver and he was right! His third choice was "thick and garden-hose shaped." Todd guessed deer penis - but it was
actually bull penis, so he'd have to eat it! For his final pick, Todd got a grip on some eyeballs. He guessed sheep's eye and it was in fact fish
eyes - which Todd had had to eat on his original FF appearance. Eyes and penis would be Todd's supper. And what would Waco eat? His first pick was
also eyeballs - and after briefly thinking it was a testicle, Waco guessed cow eyes. He was correct! His next pick was "warm" and "liquidy with
little chunks inside." He guessed it was blended worms˘and he was half right. It was also blended roaches, so Waco would have to drink it down. His
third choice was "the inside of something, probably an animal." Waco guessed brains, but it was actually cod milk - also known as sperm. His
fourth and final choice was coagulated blood, which Waco described as "cold and thick." He wound up guessing whale sperm. The other guys did
not envy Waco's menu.
All that was left was for the guys to eat up! Remember, the two guys who cleaned their plates the fastest would advance. Once their yummy dishes were
in place, the race to finish was on! All the guys had faced disgusting treats before, but the pressure to win $100,000 and a new car was intense.
Chad struggled with the tough snout while Todd gagged down the penis. Meanwhile, Waco was gulping down his blood, blended roaches and cod sperm.
Todd finished first, so it was down to Chad and Waco. Both guys looked like they could puke at any moment. And then Waco did lose it. As soon as
Waco regurgitated, Chad knew all he had to do was finish to advance - which he did. Now it was the girls' turn!
The girls arrived at an equally creepy location to find a large water tank. No disgusting food for these girls - but plenty of furry little dead
feeder mice. While inside the water tank each player would be joined by thousands and thousands of black and white dead mice. Using only her mouth,
the player would have to transfer as many black mice into a separate area outside the tank in three minutes. Cherie was first and wanted to make
sure that if she puked in the water she would not be disqualified (she wouldn't). Once inside the cold water, Cherie was greeting by thousands
of dead mice as they were dumped on her head. Cherie carefully plucked the little black mice from the pool of dead rodents. With each kick and
squirm, she sunk more to the bottom forcing her to dive into the water to get more. In the end, she had transferred 10 mice. Erin felt her height
in the tank would be an advantage and that she'd get 11 mice with no problem. Erin didn't squirm as much as Cherie, which kept the mice at surface
level. Soon she had 19 mice in the bucket, guaranteeing her a spot on day three. All Denise had to do was beat Cherie's 10 mice and she was also on
to day three. Denise started strong, but as time ran out she was forced to dive down to claim more black mice. In the end, she beat Cherie's
score and advanced along with Erin.
Day three. Today's winners would each walk away with a new Mazda RX-8s and a chance at the $100,000 grand prize. The four remaining players arrived
at a windy reservoir where Joe was waiting with word of their final stunt. High above the reservoir was a large platform dotted with Fear Factor flags.
As the platform swayed perilously players would collect flags one at a time from the edges of the platform and place them in the center of
the platform. Adding to the danger of the challenge were large cutout squares spaced across the platform. And of course, Fear Factor added
"rain"! Players risked slipping off the side as well as through the middle as they raced to complete the stunt the fastest. The two players with
the most flags in two minutes would drive away in their new Mazda RX-8 and speed into the finals with last week's winners (Mark and Aaron). Chad
hated having to go first, but put on his game face and suited up. Starting from the center of the platform, Chad crawled out to the edges careful
to avoid the cutout sections. He struggled to hang on as the rain slickened the surface and the platform pitched back and forth. At the end of
the allotted time, Chad had managed to gather 9 flags! Todd, who had just had his car stolen, was totally motivated to win. He predicted he'd
get 12 flags. Todd walked out to get his first flag, but as the platform got moving, he decided to stick with Chad's belly-crawl technique. He
was definitely moving quicker than Chad in general, despite the slick surface. At the end of the first minute, Todd already had 5 flags. After
the sixth flag, Todd's tether got hung up on the platform, which slowed him down a bit. Then he almost slipped through a cutout! Both times he
recovered and when time ran out Todd finished with 9 flags as well - but 11 seconds faster than Chad. Denise knew that every second would count
as she harnessed up. She got off to a slow, slippery start and had trouble keeping her grip. With only 40 seconds to go, Denise only had 5
flags. She knew she had to move faster to stay in the competition. As time ran out, so did Denise's energy. With Denise getting only 7 flags,
Todd knew he had advanced to the finals and won himself a spanking new car! While he celebrated, Erin suited up. Erin was much taller than Denise
and knew her long reach would be an advantage. But could she beat Chad's 9 flags? Once atop the platform, Erin's long reach did seem to help but
she was not as speedy as she needed to be to win. With her tether tangled, Erin struggled to reach the platform's edges. She also fell halfway
into one of the open squares - which ate up time. When her time ended, Erin was nowhere near Chad's number of flags. Chad was stoked to have won
a new car and a shot at $100,000!
