Fear Factor Episode 302 Original airdate: September 30, 2002
It was a windy afternoon when Joe revealed the harrowing first stunt to six new players. Hanging high above a dusty cliff, against the smoggy backdrop of the San Fernando Valley, was a huge platform with yellow flags spread out along its outer edges. While the platform teetered and tottered, players would have to maintain balance and collect as many flags as possible. The two men and two women with the most flags in the best time would advance.
First up was Kenny, a fireman from Cleveland. While Kenny suited up, Gina didn't hesitate to start trash talking to the others. And she didn't stop until it was her turn to climb onto the platform. Kenny, meanwhile, was using the stomach slide-and-gather technique to grasp as many flags as possible before plummeting off the platform. He got five flags in 16 seconds. Waco, an ex-Marine, was next. He used more of crawl technique, which seemed to be working for him. He got seven flags in 28 seconds. Would John send Kenny home? It was going to be a tough call. John scrambled on the swaying platform and managed to grab five flags - tying Kenny's score. BUT John did it one second faster, which sent Kenny packing.
Which of ladies would be joining him on the walk of shame? Soft-spoken Katherine was up first. She shuffled back and forth with careful precision and wound up with five flags in 17 seconds. The wind was picking up when big talker Gina took her turn. While the others wished for her to fall immediately, Gina managed to nab seven flags in 17 seconds - which beat everyone's score so far and fueled Gina's verbal tirades. Jordan, a full-time mom from New York, was determined to prove she was one tough mama. Unfortunately, she was little too slow on the get go. She grabbed five flags, but did it in 27 seconds. Gina and Katherine would move on to day two.
In a creepy, foggy wooded area the four players followed the moonlight to a roaring campfire. Joe welcomed them to his Fear Factor Weenie Roast. And by "weenie" he meant animal penis! Each player would play a matching game with several stones. The image of each animal was painted on two matching stones: a deer, an elk, a bull and a water buffalo. Whichever two stones matched up first would determine which animal's "member" the player would have to eat. Waco was up first. He flipped over the first stone - a deer. Second stone, a bull. Third stone, an elk. Fourth stone, a bull. So, bully for Waco! He had ten minutes to chow down on bull penis. Waco made it look easy and completed the task in plenty of time - despite some stray hairs on his delicacy. Ew! Katherine was next, and Gina seized the opportunity to verbally harass her throughout the entire process. Katherine "lucked" out by choosing deer penis, the smallest of the bunch. Despite Gina's taunts, and the occasional gag, Katherine choked down the veiny, tough treat in her allotted five minutes. And now, Gina's bad Karma came back to her. She picked water buffalo. Big, long, chunky disgusting water buffalo penis. As with the large bull penis, consumption time was extended to ten minutes. Gina started gagging immediately. She begged the other players to stop talking, which of course only made them taunt her more! With tears streaming down her face, Gina literally choked down every bite. The elk penis was left for John, who couldn't believe what he was about to eat. And did Gina's horrible experience humble her into silence? No way! She was in John's face the entire time. He calmly chewed and swallowed every last bite. Everyone advanced to the final round.
Day three got started at a shipyard and this stunt was one of the most unique and terrifying ones so far. Suspended over 100 feet in the air between two massive steel platforms was a swinging rope bridge. Picture a child's swing, made with a plank of wood and two ropes. Now picture about fifty of them, spaced apart and suspended in the air. That was the "bridge" that players would have to traverse. Only after they were standing on the final swing would their time be stopped. The player with the fastest time would collect the cash. Gina was up first. She stood on the first swing and spent a great deal of time trying to figure out how to even begin. Stepping across seemed too precarious. Swinging closer and hopping off didn't look like an option either. On one attempt, Gina fell, but caught herself on the edge of the plank. This gave her an idea - sit on the first step, swing over to the next, then throw your legs over the next step and scoot onto it. This system worked perfectly. Gina swung her way to a time of 16 minutes and seven seconds. Now that she had figured out a technique, the others merely copied. John tried to do the standing swing and hop, but quickly reverted to Gina's scooting system. He zipped across the bridge in less than five minutes, but faltered on the very last step. In an unfortunate turn of events, he slipped off the final plank and did not have the strength to pull himself back up. Gina was still in the game - and sent John off with a barrage of insults.
Waco was next and feeling confident. He too tried to start with a standing technique, but eventually went with the seated position. In four minutes and two seconds, Waco had knocked Gina out of the game. Could Katherine knock Waco out of the game? She couldn't even get to the next swing! Time ran out before petite Katherine could maneuver off the first platform. Waco had won!
