Fear Factor Episode 217 Original airdate: May 20, 2002
This was the 90-minute finale of a two-part Championship edition.
In part two of the Fear Factor Championship, the remaining nine players will battle it out in the final stunts and compete for a grand prize of $100,000! The remaining players included: Jeff Beisel (#203), twin Larry Lane (#213), John Piechnik (#208), Al Ameida (#206), Patricia Campbell (#201), Jessica Parise (#204), Playmate Lauren Hill (#214), Nicole Barile (#211) and Leslie Graham (#212). The men and women continued to compete separately until the final stunt.
As we found at the end of part one, the women were faced with a giant-sized fish tank filled with alligators. The gators had razor-sharp teeth and lethal claws. The women would each have to slide (carefully!) into the tank and retrieve three poles from the bottom. One at a time they would have to place the poles on a rack alongside the tank. The two women that completed the stunt the fastest would move on to the final round. Small-but-mighty Nicole was up first. She eased into the tank and quickly snagged the first two poles. As one gator seemed to stalk her, Nicole braved the bottom one last time for the final pole. Her final time: one minute and two seconds. As she climbed out of the tank, Nicole was visibly freaked out. Former Playmate Lauren was up next and her nerves were on edge, but she dove into the challenge, literally. Sliding in between gators like a little mermaid, her final time was 29 seconds! After a warning from Joe that the gators were getting more comfortable in the water, Leslie had to brave the murky waters. Even with the gators more active, Leslie nailed the stunt in 19 seconds - which sent Nicole home. Jessica chose to quit rather than risk her limbs. She said, "I'm a mom, I have responsibilitiesô" Wimp! Patricia was last up and only had to beat Lauren's time to advance. Not only did she beat Lauren's time, she beat Leslie's as well by completing the stunt in 18 seconds!
Meanwhile, the four remaining men were being shown their second stunt, which combined every gross stunt of the season into one! Each player would lie down on The Wheel of Fear -- a spinning contraption bordered by three colors: red, black and yellow. Whatever color the player's arrow lands on would determine which table of "food" they have to run to and eat from. On the Yellow Table: pig rectum, night crawlers and habanero peppers. On the Black Table: fermented squid guts, cow brains and Madagascar hissing cockroaches. On the Red Table: coagulated blood balls wrapped in pig intestines, beetles and a buffalo testicle. The two players who eat their smorgasbord the fastest will advance. Needless to say, the guys were not thrilled. John took the first spin and landed on red. He raced over to the table and began wolfing down blood balls, testicle and beetles - which apparently spray some heinous substance as soon as you bite into them. John got everything down in three minutes and 35 seconds. Al - who had to eat brain to win during his first Fear Factor appearance - was up next. Bet on black, because Al landed on it. He was slow getting to the table, and even slower washing down the brains with the squid gut juice. Add to that the hissing roaches and Al finished in seven minutes and 44 seconds. Wonder-twin Larry was next on the wheelôand landed on black as well. However, unlike Al, Larry tackled his task with enthusiasm! He slammed it all down in two minutes and 53 seconds - sending laid-back Al home. Jeff took a spin to the yellow table to chomp on worms, rectum and peppers. He knew he had to beat John's time to stay in the game. Rectum, as you may remember, is chewy, but Jeff was determined. By choking down two peppers at a time, Jeff beat John's time by a mere 15 seconds!
On day three, the men and women were reunited so the final four could compete for the final prize of $100,000. The final stunt rolled up in the form of a huge tanker truck. Players would have to stand atop the tanker while it barreled down a windy, canyon road. When the horn sounds, players must enter the 18-wheeler's tank, swim through the sloshing water inside and find a key. Once they have the key, they would have to climb back out of the tank on to the top, make their way to the front of the still-speeding truck, insert the key and sound a horn! Lucky Larry predicted that he would complete the stunt in less than a minute. Once inside the tank, momentum slowed Larry down a bit as the water crashed around him. Back on top, a sopping wet Larry struggled to hang on as he made his way to the front of the truck. He was able to insert the key and honk the horn in one minute and 26 seconds. Patricia suited up, while Larry recounted his tale of terror to the others. As the horn sounded, Patricia slid into the tank and was greeting by a wall of water slamming into her. She struggled to get the key, but made it back atop the truck in less than 45 seconds. It looked like she would easily send Larry home, but Patricia fumbled with the key and came in at one minute, 33 seconds. A disappointing loss for sure. Jeff geared up, dove in and nailed it. Crawling across the speeding tanker, he almost slid off more than once. Ultimately, Jeff completed the stunt in 59 seconds - putting him in the money position. Could Leslie beat that awesome time? She was pumped up and ready to win. The motion of the tanker "ocean" proved a bit of an obstacle, but Leslie made it in and out in less than 25 seconds. She struggled against the wind factor to the front of the truck and was in the lead. However, cold hands and that darn key proved her downfall as her final time rose to one minute, six seconds. That made Jeff the Ultimate Fear Factor Champion and $100,000 richer.
