Episode 104 June 30, 2001
Two abandoned warehouses set the stage for the first stunt. The players meet Joe a few floors up in one of the dilapidated buildings and Joe asks them to look out of a gaping hole, facing the other structure. There they see the "Human Wrecking Ball" set up between the two buildings.
Players will be harnessed and strung up 120 feet. When they pull a release cord, they will drop down and smash through a large wooden wall. Beyond the wall, spread out on the ground, is a large target. After smashing through the wall at up to 50 miles per hour, players must drop a small sandbag as close to the target as possible. s1.is first.
With no previous players to help him gauge the accuracy of the bag drop, s1.is way off target. He is also quick to point how hard you hit the wall! It compares it to a car accident. Emily, a sales associate from Chicago is up next. She screams the entire way down, but smashes through the barrier and drops with fairly good accuracy - but still off target. Julius, a natural athlete, knocks Emily's sandbag, which slows his down and gives him a good location. Changing tactics, Alyssa drops her bag almost immediately after smashing through the wall. She gets the closest, almost landing on the target area. Derek, a Miami novelist, tries to "use the force" to beat his competitors. He over shoots, but is close enough to eliminate s1.from the game. Ashley is last, and must beat Derek to advance. She also overshoots - and is eliminated.
Day two brings the remaining four players in a charming, '50s-style diner. Joe's smirk should be a sign that there are no burgers and fries on the Fear Factor menu! Joe serves up plump, veiny, boiled Buffalo Testicles. They will have to eat two each within four minutes, without holding their noses. Not only do the testicles smell bad, they don't taste so great and the outer skin layer must be broken to reach the "meaty center" as Joe calls it. Derek is first and chokes them down in less than three minutes. Emily and Alyssa watch him with growing horror, while Joe giggles. Alyssa isn't sure she can keep them down...and after only 25 seconds, she quits - spitting up what little she had in her mouth. Emily, who had been freaking out the most, tries, but quits after a minute. It's down to Julius. Determined to win, he dedicates the first testicle to "the brothers in Africa," and the second one to his football buddies back home. He swallows the last piece with only 9 seconds to spare! He and Derek share a celebration dance before advancing to the final stunt.
It's a cold night at an industrial tank for this $50,000 stunt. As the guys sit pondering their fates, a crane lifts a car out of a small body of water in front of them. Joe explains that they will be strapped into the front seat of the car. Once they are submerged, they must unhook themselves, crawl into the backseat where a fake baby is strapped into a car seat. They must "rescue" the baby, crawl back to the front seat and out the driver's side window. There will be a pocket of air in the back of the car if they start to panic. After surfacing, they are to return the "baby" to its carriage, which sits on the dock. Both Derek and Julius admit that they are not great swimmers. Julius crawls into the driver's seat first. After being submerged, he easily gets unhooked and makes it into the back seat; however, once he grabs the "baby" he seems to squirm around a lot. Seemingly disoriented, he swims around before finally bursting through the rear passenger window and surfacing for gulps of air. While he has successfully completed part of the task, his exit through the wrong car window has disqualified him! All Derek has to do is complete the stunt to win!
Julius is visibly disappointed, but says he just needed air and found the quickest way up - totally ignoring the air pocket at the back of the car. Before Derek is lowered into the water he surveys the interior of the car and mentally reviews his plan of attack. As the car is lowered, he gives himself a rousing pep talk. Derek acts as though he's saving a baby from a sinking car every day! He completes the task - and wins the game - in forty-two seconds.
