On Fear Factor, it always helps to be a good swimmer. But all the training in the world couldn’t have prepared Wes and Ritchie for this stunt. The duo would have to match four different items found in two filth filled dumpsters before plopping their heads into eight different fifty-five gallon barrels to make a match. The result was total devastation as they recount in this weeks tale of fear.
FEAR FACTOR: So what was your strategy for this stunt?
RITCHIE: We wanted to pull our four items out of the dumpster before we even touched those barrels. But it was really difficult and I think it took more time than we thought it would.
WES: There was so much muck floating around in that I couldn’t be sure what I was pulling out. But I think we got our items pretty quickly. It was the barrels that were difficult.
FEAR FACTOR: What was it like trying to dig through the barrels?
WES: It was so thick and nasty. You had to just stick your entire body in and root around to find the bolts holding the boot or whatever in place.
RITCHIE: I think that the mud had to be the worst. It was so hard to get a grip on the bolts and get the things loose. That stuff was really thick.
WES: Every time you came up you were just covered in the muck. It was unbelievable. Personally I thought the worst was the squid. The water was just freezing and it made it almost impossible to use your hands under the surface and every time you came out your hands would just be burning from the cold. It took forever and faster you tried to work the more time it took. When we finally finished we were completely devastated you couldn’t believe the mess. In a million years I couldn’t have imagined that it was possible to get that dirty.
