Contestants Bre Fisher and Michelle Deyhle spent two minutes strapped to a giant rotisserie that spun them head over heels through a tank of animal lard. It was a dizzying ride into the world of gross as they recount their story in this week's Tale of Fear.
FEAR FACTOR: So what were you thinking going into this stunt?
BRE FISHER: After having seen the other contestants take their spin I was really nervous. I didn't know whether or not it would even be possible to do.
FEAR FACTOR: What was it like being strapped into that huge contraption?
MICHELLE DEYHLE: It was intimidating. Once the thing started spinning, it was a real shock. The lard was so thick and cold, you immediately thought you were suffocating in there and I realized why the other contestants had such a hard time with the stunt.
BRE FISHER: You were strapped in and just buried in the lard. You're reaching around for those chickens and at first I couldn't feel a thing. I just wanted to get one you know and when I popped up on the other side empty handed it was a real let down. The lard was just everywhere... up my nose and in my ears and mouth. Just everywhere and then you get thrown right back down into it again.
FEAR FACTOR: Did you guys have a strategy?
MICHELLE DEYHLE: It all moved so fast you didnít even have time to think. When I went back down I could feel the chickens down on the bottom but I just couldn't get a grip on them. They would slip out of my hand and then next thing you know I would be going back up.
BRE FISHER: We weren't going to chicken out like the girls did. We weren't going screw up like the boys did. I mean, someone's got to play this game and it wasn't them. We just refused to give up.
