In traditional Fear Factor style contestants Paul & Melody Redondo celebrate their nuptials by diving head first into a wedding cake filled with bugs, worms and alligator eyes and chew-up mouthfuls of the creepy crawlies before spitting their guts into champagne flutes. To top it off they then had to drink a not so romantic toast with the glasses they had filled in front of a live audience on the Universal City Walk in Orlando, FL. It was a special evening sure to add to a lifetime of memories as they recount in this weeks Tale Of Fear.
FEAR FACTOR: What was it like diving into the cake?
PAUL: It was a lot thicker than I thought it would be. You really had to push and tear your way through it. I wasn’t afraid of the bugs but they just kept getting everywhere, down my shirt and all over the place.
FEAR FACTOR: What was the smell like when you first ripped the cake open?
MELODY: When I first opened the cake up, I was just in shock. I was in complete shock. It was just so raunchy. So disgusting. It smelled like a sewer. I couldn’t believe how bad it smelled.
FEAR FACTOR: What was bothering you the most about this stunt?
MELODY: The biggest thing that was freaking me out was having those bugs in my face, having to push my face through those bugs. It just sickened me.
FEAR FACTOR: What was your strategy?
PAUL: I just wanted to get right to the juicy stuff, chew em’ up and spit em’ out.
MELODY: I was looking for the silkworms ‘cause I knew those were the juiciest. I was looking down at the cake and I couldn’t get my face in there. It was just totally grossing’ me out. Finally I just stuck my head in there and grabbed a silkworm and started chewing. I was doing everything I could to make it as juicy as possible. Paul kept telling me to bite my tongue, that it would create more saliva. I don’t know if it helped but it sure did make my tongue hurt.
FEAR FACTOR: Once you finished filling the glass you had to drink that stuff what was that like?
PAUL: As I was chugging it, I kept thinking about what it was I was drinking. It was literally bug juice mixed with my own spit. It was horrible. As I was chugging it I could hear the crowd get louder and louder, and cheering my name and everything. But all that support, nothing really helped. It was still just terrible.
