Even the best sushi can be pretty nasty so it’s a safe bet that when you step into the Fear Factor Sushi Bar your in for a world of hurt. Facing elimination, Anthony ordered-up some Cockroach Sushi and a Rotten Squid Roll from our gross sushi chef. This was one lunch he wouldn’t mind loosing as he tells in this weeks Tale Of Fear.
FEAR FACTOR: Tell us about the first thing you had to eat…the cockroach sushi with maggots.
ANTHONY: It was horrible. I put it in my mouth, broke it in half, and it was still crawlin’ around. Clingin’ to the sides of my cheeks. It was crunchy at first. When you bite into it all this stuff comes out. It was gooey goo, gooish, it was just nasty. It was some nasty, warm liquid. White, creamy crap that you don’t want in your mouth.
FEAR FACTOR: And you could feel the cockroaches' legs kicking and stuff?
ANTHONY: Yeah I had cockroach legs stuck in my teeth. I bit into the cockroach and the body of the cockroach came off and I had an arm stuck inside my cheek. I couldn’t even swallow it at first. I had to chew it. Chew it. Chew it. Chew it. And then put a lot of spit in my mouth and a lot of saliva in my mouth and then just swallow it in one gulp. It’s pretty freakin’ nasty. I’m a very picky eater. I don’t eat that crap.
FEAR FACTOR: You also had to eat the rotten squid hand roll, what was that like?
ANTHONY: That rotten squid hand roll was the most disgusting, grotesque, detestable, repugnant thing ever. Words cannot describe how nasty it was. But it wasn’t just squid guts, it was a freakin’ whole squid. I still have that nasty taste in my mouth and that smell is just burnt into my nose.
FEAR FACTOR: How’d you get through it?
ANTHONY: I couldn’t think about it. I couldn’t look at it. I closed my eyes. I kept gagging as I tried to swallow it, my body did not want that stuff in it. I tried to think of something else to fool myself into thinking it was a ding-dong or something but my body knew better and I just kept gagging.
