BUG ROPES

Nothing in the world of modeling could have prepared Kate Lillecrapp for the sticky situation she found herself in when she had to slurp clumps of worm, maggots and giant beetles off of four bug infested ropes. As the high fashion model describes in her Tale of Fear it was a stinky, sticky, disgusting mess that she will not soon forget.

FEAR FACTOR: What did you think when you first saw the stunt?

KATE LILLECRAPP: When I first saw the stunt, I just couldn't believe it. I thought it was the funniest thing that I've ever heard of people having to do, so I just could not stop laughing. And then when it came to be my turn, I stopped laughing. That's for sure. The odor really, really gets to you, so I was trying not to breathe through my nose at all.

FEAR FACTOR: What was your strategy?

KATE LILLECRAPP: To be as quick as possible in getting them in my mouth and over to the scales. I just wanted to move quick, just get a mouthful and move as quick as I can to the scales. I was looking for the biggest globs of bugs that I could get into my mouth.

FEAR FACTOR: What technique did you use for getting the bugs off of the ropes?

KATE LILLECRAPP: I just took my mouth from the bottom of the rope and was going upwards to just try and gather as many as I could in my mouth. It was disgusting, but I had to do what I had to do.

FEAR FACTOR: Was it sticky?

KATE LILLECRAPP: Yeah, it was really sticky. And it stank. It was horrid.

FEAR FACTOR: How gross were the bugs? How did they feel in your mouth?

KATE LILLECRAPP: It was disgusting. I tried to block it out of my mind and just get as many in my mouth as I could and spit them into that bowl as quick as I could. I was trying to put like saliva around my lips before I started 'cause I thought that would stop them from biting me. But today I've got lots of little blisters on the top and bottom of my lip from those little buggers biting away. When it was all over I just felt repulsively ill. It was disgusting. And I'm sure everyone's gonna have a good laugh with those bugs smeared all over my face. It was disgusting.
