Fear Factor couples contestant Jackson had to free his fiancé, Monica, from being locked in a coffin filled with hundreds of tarantulas. First he had to suck up and spit out blended crickets until he could reach a key. He used the key to unlock a hacksaw, which he used to saw through a pipe that kept the coffin locked. All this for a chance to compete in the final stunt and win the million-dollar prize.
FEAR FACTOR: What were you thinking as you approached the stunt?
JACKSON: We are walkin' down the hallway with these flashlights, and we're seein', cockroaches on the walls, and spiders everywhere. Huge spider webs, and it smelled like sewer down there.
MONICA: When we were going into the stunt you could tell that it was gonna be something nasty because you're down there, it's dark, it stinks down there, there's spiders, cockroaches, and cobwebs everywhere.
JACKSON: I was more nervous on that stunt than any other stunt on the entire show that we've had. Because the gross stuff, it affects me pretty bad. I was real nervous goin' into that stunt. My stomach just wouldn't stop makin' noises.
FEAR FACTOR: Did the idea of being locked up with 500 tarantulas scare you?
MONICA: When Joe revealed the stunt and he showed us that one tarantula and said that we were gonna be covered in 500…I was scared. I had all this stuff going through my head, like, "is it gonna bite me? How is it gonna feel? I mean, just how long is it gonna take him to get me out of there?" I was scared.
FEAR FACTOR: What was it like to watch another couple do the stunt?
MONICA: It was just scary. I've never been so scared until that day.
JACKSON: When they dumped all those spiders and stuff on Meghan, she starts crying. I'm, like, "Baby, are you gonna be able to do this?" She was, like, "I don't want to do it, but it's for a million dollars. I'm gonna do it."
FEAR FACTOR: Were you worried about Monica while she was in the coffin with all the tarantulas?
JACKSON: I felt so bad for her havin' to be in there, the whole suckin' up, the crickets, and doin' the hacksawin', that was the last thing on my mind. I just wanted to get her out of these spiders. It freaked me out.
MONICA: I had my eyes closed and I'm breathing through my teeth. I didn't even have my mouth open. I was just worried that I might get bit on my lip. I feel these crickets jumpin' on me. I feel spiders. I just feel legs crawling over me. It felt like these little needles were just poking me. And there was times when I felt like I couldn't take it.
FEAR FACTOR: How did you fell once the stunt was over?
MONICA: When I got pulled out, I was so happy, but I couldn't show it because I hurt so bad.
JACKSON: She wouldn't let me touch her after the stunt. She was bawlin'.
