What's worse than having to get through a gross stunt on Fear Factor? Having to get through THREE gross stunts on Fear Factor! Contestant Saira Gouveia talks about her unforgettable experience on the first-ever All-Gross edition of Fear Factor.
FEAR FACTOR: What went through your mind when you arrived for the first stunt and Joe Rogan announced that this would be a special All-Gross edition of Fear Factor?
SAIRA GOUVEIA: I was very surprised that I was picked for the gross-out Fear Factor because that was like my worst fear. I was hoping to jump off a helicopter or do something like that but I was really surprised. My biggest fear was to be on a gross-out Fear Factor and here I am on a gross-out Fear Factor!
FEAR FACTOR: The first stunt called for you to dunk your head in 50 gallons of cow blood and bob for rings. What was that like?
SAIRA GOUVEIA: I was very worried about the blood. Just looking down into the tank I was like, "Oh my God, I cannot believe I'm going to do this."
FEAR FACTOR: You seemed really nervous.
SAIRA GOUVEIA: When I started putting the earplugs and the noseclips and the goggles on, I started getting very, very claustrophobic. You can't hear and you can't breathe through your nose and it was a terrible feeling. And I knew I wasn't going to be able to see anything in there. And when I stuck my head in that blood and I came out, I also found out that I couldn't really breathe through my mouth because it was so thick. It was terrible. Ugh.
FEAR FACTOR: What did the blood taste like? What was the smell like?
SAIRA GOUVEIA: It was just thick. My biggest thing was that I couldn't breathe, even through my mouth. And every time I put my head in there, it was like a mouthful of blood that I drank.
FEAR FACTOR: Sounds pretty awful.
SAIRA GOUVEIA: I felt like I was swallowing blood through my nose and through my mouth and it was just very, very claustrophobic. I mean, at a certain point, I stopped worrying about the blood itself and it was just the breathing part of it that was bad.
FEAR FACTOR: One of the contestants REALLY freaked out during this stunt. How scary was that for you?
SAIRA GOUVEIA: I felt so bad for him. If you're going to lose it, you're going to lose it, but it was really bad the way he did it. I just really felt bad. And I really felt scared too. I didn't know what he was going to do. I thought he was going to just flip the tank over.
