Season 9

SEASON 9 SYNOPSIS County remains in lockdown with Carter, Abby, Chen and Pratt quarantined for days. While on the roof arguing with Luka, Romano backs up into a helicopter and severs his arm. Anspaugh reattaches it, leaving Susan to save a dying patient on her own. Meanwhile, grieving Elizabeth returns to London to open a new practice, but ultimately decides there's no place like Chicago. She returns to the ER, swamped as yet another neighboring hospital is shut down.

After an enraged drug addict terrorizes the staff with a gun, Carter stages a walkout to demand better security. Weaver eventually gives into his demands, ordering Carter to fire three senior nurses to make up the expense. Later, while demonstrating flu shots on TV, Weaver sticks two reporters with the same needle. When she's caught in the bathroom with another needle, Weaver confesses that she's taking hormones. Thinking Susan knows, Carter yaps about Abby's drinking. This causes an argument with Abby just as she's promoted to nurse manager. Meanwhile, Luka can be seen emerging from a closet with a patient's mom.
