Season 8

SEASON 8 SYNOPSIS A board of inquiry investigates Greene over the serial shooter's death; only Elizabeth suspects the truth. Carter attends his grandfather's funeral and endures a reunion with his estranged parents. Weaver worries that Romano has outed her. Luka asks Abby to move in with him, but they break up instead, and she seeks solace with Carter. Chen has trouble handling her new chief resident position. Her mistake causes a patient's death, but she blames Weaver for not answering her pages. Carla is killed in a car accident but Reese survives.

While stuck in an elevator with a female paramedic, Malucci saves a bleeding man. When he has celebratory sex with the paramedic on site, Weaver fires him. A now-rebellious teen Rachel surprises her father in the ER. Elizabeth is exhausted by motherhood and falls asleep in surgery. Greene offers Dr. Susan Lewis an attending position and she accepts. She quickly clashing with Abby, who's upset with Luka's hiring of French waitress Nicole as a runner. Chen quits after clashing with Weaver. When Reese goes missing while Benton's in surgery, he's forced to call Roger. Deciding that he wants sole custody of Reese, Benton takes a paternity test.
