Season 3

SEASON 3 SYNOPSIS On his first night as a surgical intern Carter offends the nurses, who make his night hellish. Jeanie tests positive for AIDS. She tells Benton, who tests negative, but decides not to inform the hospital. Beginning aggressive treatment, she takes out a second mortgage to pay her and Al's bills. Before long, Weaver knows Jeanie's secret. Rumors abound that the hospital may close. At the Fourth of July picnic, Carol runs into Shep and his new girlfriend.

Susan and Green deny their mutual attraction in favor of crappy blind dates. Susan invites Green on vacation to Hawaii, but he decides not to go. When Southside Hospital is closed, Dr. Anspaugh comes to County as the new Chief of Staff, and intern Maggie Doyle joins the ER crew. Benton transfers out of Anspaugh's group to work with pediatric surgeon Dr. Abby Keaton. Carter's neighbor smokes near her oxygen tank and burns down their apartment building, leaving them both homeless. Carter finds a new home with competing intern Dr. Gant.
