Having risen through the ranks at Chicago's County General Hospital, Dr. Greene has been through many personal and professional traumas during his tenure. After being attacked by a disgruntled patient in the men's room, Dr. Greene had a hard time returning to his work. Plus, the loss of his father and breakup of his marriage also greatly affected him. However, Mark Greene found the strength to continue and he also met and married Dr. Corday along the way. Now he's facing his greatest challenge, the recurrence of brain cancer that could end his career - and his life. Dr. Greene has two daughters, teenaged Rachel and baby Ella.
