Kyle Brandt portrays an edgier and more secretive Philip Kiriakis on NBC's "Days of our Lives."
Born in Hinsdale, IL, Brandt is one of 7 siblings including sisters Ashley (26), Casey (20), and Natalie (3 months) and brothers Austin (12), Tyler (11) and Christopher (3) and of course there is Charlie," the family Wheaton terrier. He grew up in the northern suburbs of Chicago, Hinsdale and Lincolnshire, and his family currently resides in Lake Bluff.
Although widely recognized from his stint on MTV's successful "Real World: Chicago," Brandt's first real acting job was as "the King" in his fourth grade production of "The King and I." Growing up he did some print and commercial modeling, thanks to the help of his industry related parents; his mom was a successful commercial actress and dad an advertising executive.
After high school he was tired of living the lifestyle and stereotype of "jock" so he dived into a basic freshman acting class that really "turned him on." Brandt graduated from Princeton University where he was a member and officer of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and played 4 years of football for the Tigers as running back. During his college summers, he equally divided his time training for football and honing his acting skills. He participated in summer theatre programs at Northwestern University, Chicago's famed Second City and the NY Film Academy. Brandt defines his dual personality those days saying, "I was definitely leading a double life those summers, it was amazingly fun!"
He lives by the motto he has had hanging in his apartment since his arrival in LA, "Be aggressive but be patient, this is the only life you will live." Brandt believes he really is living it, too, "at first, of course, you want everything now, now, now but you will kill yourself if you aren't patient!"
Brandt currently lives in Los Angeles and enjoys movies, all types of music and working out. He also plays in a basketball league twice a week. His birthday is January 24.
