Victim One
Name: Ruth Carter
Gender: F Age: 24

Location of Body: Backseat of car (late '50s Chevy), parked in front of The Olympus Diner.
Time of death: 3am

Cause of death: possible strangulation - MO consistent with Boston Strangler; however, physical evidence does not support Strangler connection.

Physical Evidence:
  • Single, long gray hair found on victim
  • Bruising on wrists and torso
  • Subdural hematoma
  • Evidence of rape: dried semen near pelvic area.
  • Stockings around victims neck - used for strangulation
Analysis/Lab Work
  • Lack of hemorrhaging under skin indicates strangulation occurred post-mortem
  • Gray hair follicle determined to be regular hair follicle devoid of pigmentation (albino)
Updated 2003 Analysis/Conclusions: Cause of death due to blow to the head. Victim may have slipped on icy sidewalk. Body was moved and strangled to appear to be related to Boston Strangler.

Gender: F

Location of Body: Her home
Time of death: undetermined

Cause of death: possible strangulation

Physical Evidence:
  • Scratches on arm
  • No evidence of rape
  • Stockings around victim's neck used for strangulation
Updated 2003 Analysis/Conclusions: Victim Two linked to Victim One crime scene. Victim Two strangled and crime scene staged to link to Boston Strangler case.
