Judah Friedlander

Judah Friedlander plays the crass and wisecracking writer Frank on NBC’s "30 Rock," a workplace comedy where the workplace exists behind-the-scenes of a live variety show. The show is told through the comedic voice of Emmy Award winner Tina Fey ("SNL," "Mean Girls") who writes, executive-produces and stars as head writer, Liz Lemon, and features Alec Baldwin ("The Aviator," "The Cooler") as Jack Donaghy, the brash new network executive who has turned the show upside down with his meddling ways.

As a veteran stand-up comedian of 15 years, Friedlander is nationally known for both his comedic work on shows like VH1’s "Best Week Ever" and his critically acclaimed dramatic roles, particularly his lauded portrayal and flawless impersonation of Tobey Radloff, alongside Paul Giamatti in the Harvey Pekar biopic "American Splendor." Friedlander was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 2004 Independent Spirit Awards for his role as Radloff, and The New York Times Magazine crowned him as one of the best actors of 2004. American Splendor won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival, the International Film Critics’ Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, was named the best film of the year by Newsweek magazine & the National Society of Film Critcs, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Screenplay, and was on over 200 critics top 10 lists.

Friedlander also won the Best Supporting Actor award at the Bend Film Festival in 2005 for his role opposite David Schwimmer in the indie film "Duane Hopwood." He also is widely known as "The Hug Guy," after starring as a very friendly pedestrian in the No. 1 Dave Matthews Band music video for their hit single, "Everyday."

Friedlander’s other film credits include "Wet Hot American Summer," "Meet the Parents," "Along Came Polly," "Starsky & Hutch," "Showtime," "Zoolander," "The Darwin Awards," "Date Movie," "Full Grown Men," "The Cassidy Kids," "Feast," "Live Free or Die," "Southern Belles" and "The Unseen." His television credits include "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Spin City" and appearances on NBC’s "Last Call with Carson Daly," "The Late Show with David Letterman" and "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson."

Friedlander currently is writing and developing movie projects and working on two CD’s, a DVD and a book of his stand-up material. Freidlander lives in New York.
