Jeff Richmond studied music and theater at Kent State University. He then moved to Chicago and became the musical director and pianist at the ImprovOlympic, where he met his wife Tina Fey. In 1994 he became a pianist and director for the famed Second City comedy theater where he directed future comedy stars Horatio Sanz, Jack McBrayer, Scott Adsit, and Rachel Dratch.

In 2001 he joined the music staff of "Saturday Night Live," writing original songs for sketches that were performed by hosts Catherine Zeta-Jones, Queen Latifah and Jack Black just to name a few.

As an executive producer and music supervisor for "30 Rock," Richmond has created a distinctive original score for over 80 episodes so far and has written the music for memorably weird songs like "Werewolf Bar Mitzvah," "Tennis Night in America" and "Kidney Now." Richmond has won three Emmys and one John Phillips Sousa Middle School Band Award. He lives in New York City with his family.
