Bob Saget
Bob Saget, known worldwide for his television roles, set a precedent by simultaneously starring in two top-ten primetime series -- on the eight-year run of sitcom "Full House" and as the host of "America's Funniest Home Videos."
He has directed the college cult-favorite feature "Dirty Work" and directed and executive-produced the critically-acclaimed and powerful telefilm "For Hope," starring Dana Delany, in a story roughly based on the life and struggle of Saget's sister, Gay, who passed away in 1994 from scleroderma.
In March of 2005, Saget completed starring in the hit off-Broadway show "Privilege," written by Paul Weitz, writer and director of "In Good Company" and "About a Boy," and directed by Peter Askin of "Hedwig and the Angry Inch." "Privilege" was sold out, received rave reviews, and ran for over seventy performances.
Saget guest-starred on the first season of the Showtime series "Huff," starring Hank Azaria, Oliver Platt and Blythe Danner and received kudos for his performance on the second season of HBO's hit series, "Entourage."
He was also recently seen in the wide-released documentary feature film "The Aristocrats," where he received rave reviews from The New York Times, The New York Observer and Entertainment Weekly, who said, "...This is the host of 'America's Funniest Home Videos' as you've never seen him before." The film is now in wide release on DVD.
Saget's stand-up has grown exponentially. Headlining the House of Blues in Las Vegas, theaters, colleges, concert venues-- his packed-housed audiences all grew up watching him, and love to see his stand-up, which completely blows up his past TV image.
Saget is also writing, directing, and producing (with producer David Permut) a new film for Thinkfilm (who also distributed "The Aristocrats"), entitled "Farce of the Penguins," an R-rated parody of the hugely successful Academy Award-winning other 'penguin' movie, this time narrated by Samuel L. Jackson and starring the voice-over talents of Lewis Black, Mo'Nique, Tracy Morgan, and featuring scores of guest cameo comedy star appearances.
Saget is also featured on "Blowin' Up," a new MTV series starring his friends, Jamie Kennedy and Stu Stone, where Bob's music video, "Rollin With Saget," is currently being run in regular video rotation.
Saget is very proud to be an active member of the board of directors of the Scleroderma Research Foundation and is also on the board of the Starlight/Starbright Children's Foundation. He hosts and co-produces three major fundraising events every eighteen months for the Scleroderma Research Foundation: in New York, Los Angeles, and the organization's base city, San Francisco. Through these events, he and the board he is so proud to be part of, fund the top research centers in the country in the quest to drive scleroderma into remission and to help find a cure for it's hundreds of thousands of victims.
